Every big creator started at zero, and the first thousand followers are a different game from the next hundred thousand. You don't need virality โ you need a system that produces discoverable content every week until the algorithm figures out who to show you to.
Days 1โ30: Build the machine
Forget growth; build output. Publish one long video per week (whatever your niche) and extract 3 Shorts from each using the repurposing system. That's 12 Shorts in month one. Your only goals: learn which hooks hold retention past 3 seconds, and find a posting rhythm you can sustain. Expect almost no growth โ you're training yourself, not the algorithm.
Days 31โ60: Find the signal
By now you have data. Sort your Shorts by view count and look for patterns: which topics, hooks, and lengths outperformed? Double down on the top 20%. This is also when you start engaging: reply to every comment, and make response Shorts to the best ones โ comments are free content ideas from your future audience.
Days 61โ90: Compound
Now you know what works. Increase to one Short per day, all in your proven formats. Start one series ("Part 1", "Part 2"โฆ) โ series create follow incentives that standalone clips don't. Cross-post everything to TikTok and Reels. By day 90, most consistent creators following this system cross 1,000 followers on at least one platform.
The rules that matter
- Never miss a week. Consistency beats intensity; the algorithm can't learn from silence.
- Every clip needs a hook, a complete idea, and a CTA. No exceptions, even when you're tired.
- Steal formats, not content. Find creators in adjacent niches, copy their structures, fill with your ideas.
- Ignore vanity metrics early. Watch 3-second retention and follower conversion, not raw views.
A thousand followers isn't luck. It's 90 days of a system, executed without quitting.
